SCOPE:
This procedure covers the annual and ongoing aspects of
the Trinity Forge environmental management system (EMS).
The EMS Manual may be accessed at http://www.trinityforge.net/enviromanual.htm
PROCEDURE:
The Environmental
Coordinator is focal point of the company EMS,
maintaining a complete file of environmental records,
reviewing company progress toward environmental
objectives, training employees in environmental matters
(see TOP-TRAIN) and soliciting
employee suggestions for improvement (see TOP-IDEAS).
Annually,
typically in November, the Environmental Coordinator
selects an environmental consultant accredited by Texas
Natural Resource Conservation Commission (TNRCC) and
works with this consultant to:
- Review the records in the
Environmental File for the past year.
- Review Trinity
Forge’s EMS Manual and the procedures
supporting it.
- Determine changes needed to
Trinity Forge’s EMS to reflect changes in
environmental law, changes in ISO 14000 and changes
in the company’s manufacturing
processes.
- Ensure that all
government-required testing and reporting is
scheduled for proper completion.
- Set forth appropriate
environmental plans and goals for the coming
year.
- Develop the Environmental
Management System (EMS) Annual Report which recaps
the findings, changes, plans and goals.
The Environmental
Coordinator submits indicated changes to the EMS Manual
are effected via TOP-TFEMS and to
Trinity Operating Procedures (TOPs) via TOP-TOPSM.
The Environmental
Coordinator submits and executive summary of the EMS
Annual Report for top management review via TOP-MREVU.
The Environmental
Coordinator retains a copy of all internal environmental
documents (e.g., EMS Annual Report) and external
communications related to environment (i.e., government
reports or possibly public announcements) in the
Environmental File.
The Environmental
Coordinator submits the ongoing testing and monitoring
tasks required to implement the annual plan to the
Maintenance Clerk to include with the company’s
preventive maintenance program via TOP-PREVM. As the reminders come up in
the P.M. program they are returned to the Environmental
Coordinator to complete and retained in the Environmental
File.
