Machining Department Manager
Team member's role and responsibilities:
- Develop manufacturing processes required to produce
finished machined detail parts meeting customer requirements.
- Design, model, and plan the manufacture of tooling and
fixtures required for the production of machined detail parts.
- Assist in set-up and first article production of first
time runs as necessary to proof manufacturing processes and tooling design.
- Support programming of CNC machines as required.
- Evaluate existing machining processes to look for and
implement new methods to increase production rates.
- Train and develop employees in methods and procedures
on how to maximize efficiency and productivity while minimizing setup time,
machine downtime, insert or tooling failures.
- Supervise the activities of machining personnel as
required to accomplish first time part production.
- Ensure work is performed in a safe and timely fashion
without jeopardizing the quality of each part.
Rookie requirements:
- High school diploma or GED and a minimum of five years
experience in related field.
- Proficient in the use of PRO-E or equivalent software
as it relates to manufacturing.
- Good communication skills; both verbal and written.
- Ability to communicate with and teach other employees.
- Complete modules:
FSAT,
GDTT,
and PROG.
- CAD/CAM experience a definite plus.
Physical activity involved:
- Moderate amount of walking.
- Periodic physical exertion as required to setup CNC
equipment and to demonstrate through example optimum methods of production.
