Control Supervisor
Team member's role and responsibilities:
- Ensure that QC Inspectors have all tools
available for their jobs: SPC
charts, calipers, work station, etc.
- Assign QC Inspectors to the various
hammers and to substitute for any one inspector as needed.
- Communicate with shop supervisor on any
deviation found on parts being inspected.
- Have a QC inspector assigned to each
hammer that is in production.
- Provide assistance and direction to QC
inspectors.
- See that all defects or deviation from
specifications are reported promptly to shop foreman and hammerman to
minimize the production of bad parts.
- Become familiar with TOPs Manual,
especially those procedures that relate to this team position.
Rookie requirements:
- High school graduate
or equivalent.
- Three years forging QC experience.
- Good understanding of SPC concepts.
- Good understanding of math, particularly
fractions and decimals.
- Complete training modules HOTI,
COLD,
MATH,
CHRT,
PRNT,
STAT,
COIN,
GRND,
LETR,
PRTC,
PRCP, CMMB,
QCNH,
FSAT,
FAIN,
TEMP,
RDNC,
and MEAS.
- Must be able to read and understand
blueprints.
- Complete visual
acuity testing.
- Proficiency in using calipers and other
measuring devices, and a basic understanding of forging
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to perform computer data entry
upon completion of on-the-job training.
- Magnetic Particle Level II after
training.
Physical activity involved:
- Extensive walking throughout the shop
- A lot of bending, lifting of hot steel
forgings with the aid of tongs
- Exposure to heat.
