Coaches: Manufacturing Manager,
Steelyard Supervisor
Team member's role and responsibilities:
- Lead steelyard crew and use each person in the most efficient manner.
- Train new people on the use of various types of equipment (overhead
crane, saws, shear, etc.).
- Work closely with production supervisor to keep supply line to
hammers working smoothly; to work closely with purchasing department.
- Ensure the traceability of heat codes.
- Ensure cutting tickets are correct and precisely followed.
- Ensure that production hammers do not run out of steel.
- Assign job tasks to the other steelyard helpers.
- Keep abreast of production schedule and anticipate job needs.
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing stock.
Rookie requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Some basic math proficiency including familiarity with the use of
measuring tape.
- Some experience working in steelyard, including working knowledge of
saws and shears.
- Complete training modules
TAGS,
MATL,
SYRD,
STWD,
SCIO and crane training within 120 days.
Physical activity involved:
- A lot of standing and some climbing.
- A lot of lifting of pieces of steel weighing as much as 50 pounds.
- A lot of bending from the waist and some pushing.
