TFTP-YSPL: Steelyard Specialist

Coaches: Steelyard Supervisor , Steelyard Lead Man

Team member's role and responsibilities:

• Operate his designated saw or shear efficiently.
• Keep shop hammerman supplied with steel.
• Become as familiar as possible with assigned piece of equipment, such as stud welding or shear.
• Be able to adjust equipment quickly and to interpret instructions on cutting tickets.
• Be able to operate overhead crane.
• Retrieve steel from inventory as needed.

Rookie requirements:

• Good understanding of measuring tape, fractions, and simple math; some experience as a steelyard worker.
• Complete training modules TAGS, SYRD, MATL, STWD, SCIO and forklift and crane training within 120 days.
• Complete training of "How To Properly Check All Cut Billets".

Physical activity involved:

• Bending, stooping, lifting pieces of steel repeatedly, stacking, walking, climbing.
